ABOUT KEITH LEFFLER

Participation in athletics, while growing up, provided a number of significant benefits to my development as a person. These experiences, plus the great relationships that developed as a result, led me into the fields of education, coaching, and sports management, where I have worked as a teacher, coach, and department chair. I currently serve as the Director of Athletics for Mayfield High School where I lead an organization focused on providing opportunities that enhance the academic mission of the school district. As athletic director of Mayfield High School, I wear many hats. In addition to providing guidance and direction for our 26 sports programs, I provide hands-on leadership in the areas of budgeting and allocation of spending in areas like coach’s salaries, travel, equipment purchasing, and facility upkeep and expansion. I collaborate with coaches about the scheduling of games, practices, and facility use and coordinate officiating for all contests. In the area of human resources, I provide guidance for coaches, as well as the hiring and evaluation of coaches and other department employees. Occasionally, I am required to mediate disputes between athletes/parents and coaches, or coaches and coaches. Additionally, as compliance requirements continue to increase, I have implemented software packages to automate processes to ensure we are complaint with all association requirements. I am most proud in directing over 300 first-class events annually, including conference and state tournaments. Leading these events provides the opportunity to develop a variety of skills, like public relations, communications, marketing, and security. Hosting events for hundreds of participants and thousands of spectators provides a great opportunity to develop positive relationships with out staff, community members, and business partners. k•••••••@mayfieldschools.org
