I was privileged to be invited to be the first Master on the first of North Star’s service operation vessels. This has included standing by the build during the final phase, sea trials and taking the vessel on her maiden voyage - delivering her from the Far East to Europe. The vessel is supporting the pre-eminent UK offshore windfarm during construction and commissioning and will shortly settle into service phase of her working life.

ABOUT KEITH SUTHERLAND AFRIN
I am a Ship\'s Master and Dynamic Positioning Officer currently in command of a service operation vessel supporting construction and commissioning in renewables, with a degree level education and shore based management and operations experience.I have a unique perspective having worked as an auditor conducting vessel assurance and mobilisation for projects on behalf of oil majors combined with the rigours of a decade spent carrying general cargo around the globe. My goals are to continue to gain experience within the offshore and renewables industries and to push my professional development though a combination of industry courses and academics while encouraging safety and high standards in the marine workplace.
