Coming to the law as a second career provides me with a unique opportunity to pursue a career in law that I am deeply passionate about. I have had a successful career within the oil and gas, energy, manufacturing, and construction industries as an engineer and project manager. I have gained significant experience in the development and execution of contracts required to meet client objectives. I have conducted negotiations with clients and third parties and developed excellent communication skills. I have worked closely within in-house legal and contracts teams throughout project lifecycles which have inspired me to pursue a career as a solicitor. As a Project Manager, I have provided innovative solutions under pressure for clients. I have prioritised competing demands and considered financial and schedule risks when making decisions. I utilised my judgment and initiative to prioritise critical activities. I ensured I remained flexible and provided mitigating action where changes in the environment occurred within the project. My ability to work within a team and deliver tailored solutions for clients is central to my ability to provide appropriate legal advice. I have gained significant practical experience within my role at the Citizens Advice Bureau. In this role, I successfully advised clients on a range of matters including employment, debt recovery, housing, employment, and contractual disputes. I demonstrated strong investigatory skills on complex legal matters. I utilised the legal knowledge and research skills that I had developed from my studies in this role. I communicated my findings clearly to clients and in a manner which they could understand. I delivered high-quality customer service in this role. I have an expert understanding of IT systems that will be essential to creating and managing client files. I have developed and managed quality management and document control systems for clients which ensured compliance with ISO and 9001. I am extremely proficient in working with Microsoft platforms and have actively promoted the use of online meeting platforms to improve the efficiency of communications on international projects. As a graduate in law with prior professional experience, I will bring excellent communications, time management, and project management skills. I have a strong commercial awareness and understand the influence that financial markets, politics, and emerging technologies have on the legal sector. I can quickly identify and understand the business of the client.
