ABOUT KEITH RAWLINGS

Dr. M. Keith Rawlings, MD is Senior Medical Director, Medical Affairs at ViiV Healthcare. Prior to joining ViiV Dr. Rawlings served has Director HIV Medical Sciences / Gilead Sciences, Inc from 2011 to 2018. He oversaw the national field based team of Medical Scientists that provide medical education and training on HIV prevention and treatment. During his tenure he focused on the regulatory submission, approval and implementation of Truvada for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in the US, as well as the Study Director for three of the FDA post-marketing commitments. Past positions include Medical Director and Director of Clinical Research at AIDS Arms/ Peabody Health Center in Dallas, TX and the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) Site Leader; Associate Medical Director at Parkland Health & Hospital System, and Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at University Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He is past-Chair of Internal Medicine and Co-Chair of the Infectious Diseases/ HIV for the National Medical Association (NMA). He served on the Human Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) AIDS Advisory Committee; Co-Principal Investigator of the National Minority AIDS Education & Training Center; board member American Academy of HIV Medicine; and on the South African Presidential HIV Advisory Board. He has published over 100 abstracts and manuscripts and co-edited one of the few books, HIV/AIDS in U.S. Communities of Color, on the HIV epidemic among minorities in the US. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences including the International AIDS Conference, the International Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, Infectious Disease Society of America and the American Conference for the Treatment of HIV. Dr. Rawlings has received several awards including the HRSA HIV/AIDS Bureau Director’s Award; both the NMA Practitioner and Internist of the Year.
