My team of 20 is responsible for the implementation of Devops practices on a large client account. I manage the team, shaping it so that we can respond to different client demands. Whilst there is a large emphasis on management responsibilities I remain involved in the technical challenges we face, giving direction and input into design work and incident resolution. As one would expect from this role I deal with a variety of stakeholders including our own senior management, client management and technical teams, third party technical resources. I am responsible for impacting including contributions to multi million pound contract negotiations. My responsibilities include • Budget management, resource management, stakeholder management, planning and impacting, management reporting, incident management. • Client support acting as the point of contact for the client management team. • Ensuring support of the DevTest platform and tooling with self serve development environments. • Facilitating provisioning, support and maintenance of infrastructure including production. • Implementing software maintenance and patch management solutions • Integration with development projects to deliver their non functional requirements. • Security and governance of the AWS, OnPrem and Azure platforms. Before managing the team I was a lead Devops Engineer on this team, and supported the delivery of several projects into production. As well as the account responsibilities i also have internal responsibility with the Regional Technology Centre for steering and serving the Devops capability/community. This involves coordinating activities, training and performance management for 50+ engineers over several UK geographic centres.
