About Keira Kamida
I’m drawn to how data can turn uncertainty into clearer, more informed decisions that affect people’s lives. My foundation in mathematics, programming, and data analysis comes from coursework in Calculus I and II and computer science (CMSI 1010 and CMSI 2120), where I’ve built the ability to think logically, work with quantitative models, and translate mathematical concepts into computational solutions for real-world problems. I’ve also been building on this foundation through actuarial probability concepts as I progress toward Exam P. Outside the classroom, I work as a statistics analyst for the LMU Women’s Basketball team, where I collect game data and create visual graphs to communicate performance trends. This experience has strengthened my ability to turn raw data into clear, actionable insights and shown me how visualization can support decision-making in fast-paced environments. I am particularly interested in healthcare actuarial work, where statistical modeling is used to evaluate risk, understand uncertainty, and improve outcomes in both patient care and healthcare systems. I’m motivated by the opportunity to use this work to help improve healthcare access, outcomes, and decision-making for everyone involved in the system. This is where data analysis becomes meaningful when it directly informs decisions that affect people’s lives. I am currently pursuing the SOA actuarial pathway and seeking opportunities in actuarial science, healthcare analytics, and data-driven roles where I can continue developing my technical skills while contributing to work that improves how risk is understood and managed.
