ABOUT KEIR A. STRAUSS

I’m a Chief Compliance Officer with general counsel experience in life sciences and clinical research. I\'m a ground-up builder and leader of programs that work. Although I leverage prior learnings and established frameworks in the earliest planning phases, I speak in earnest with my new colleagues to collect their insights and apply critical thinking before taking steps. Working cross-functionally, my team and I make sure that the functional program is tailored in its design and implementation to operate as it should. We analyze external trends to anticipate and plan for the unexpected and are vigilant about cross training to prevent silos and single points of failure. My programs include: FIRST-EVER COMPLIANCE & ETHICS: In just eight months prior to an IPO, established a compliance and ethics framework in accordance with Department of Justice and SEC Guidance, US Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and the UK Bribery Act. COLLABORATIVE RISK MANAGEMENT OFFICE: Formed a team of risk managers in only three months by joining disparate functions from compliance and ethics, data privacy, cybersecurity, crisis management, business continuity, and corporate insurance. PROGRAM EFFICIENCY: Assessed departmental functions, workload, and resources, then collaborated internally to appropriately distribute work tasks to reduce annualized costs and improve efficiency and scalability among senior personnel. COVID RESPONSE: Convened and chaired a task force of 30+ global cross-functional leaders to define, implement, and manage operational processes for employees in 100 countries, liaising regularly with C-suite to ensure continuity through a concurrent acquisition.
