Serves as the senior most lobbyist in AVMA’s DC office and provides valuable input around the advocacy of the profession - Lobbies Congress on key issues such as tax, appropriations, healthcare and agriculture to support and advance the official policies and initiatives of the AVMA- Supports AVAMA’s public policy advocacy efforts, including drafting policy documents and newsletters, coordinating meetings, conducting research, attending fundraisers, and other work as needed to advance the policy agenda- Develops, fosters, and maintains relationships with Members of Congress and their staff, federal regulators and allied groups- Works collaboratively with internal team to provide issue updates, Congressional candidate information, and recommendations for congressional contributions for the AVMA PAC - Provides frequent legislative updates and high impact presentations to AVMA’s Board of Directors, leadership and general membership
