ABOUT KEENAN KITASAKA
I have over 39 years of engineering experience, including almost 28 years in the public sector at various levels of government, ranging from Federal, Provincial to Regional transportation engineering. In government, I led transportation and ITS projects in roles that included planning, design, implementation, project management, sponsor, and subject matter expert (SME). I have a long history in ITS and transit technologies, including bus rapid transit (BRT). For the past 10+ years, since July 2, 2013, I have worked in the private sector for consulting firms Associated Engineering (AE) as the practice lead for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Arcadis IBI Group as Regional Mobility Technology Lead and now for AECOM leading the ITS practice in Canada. I\'ve been involved in ITS initiatives throughout my career including development of the award winning Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure\'s ITS Plan, ITS lead for the Owner\'s Engineer team for the Regina Bypass, a digital innovation strategic plan for BC MOTT, ECWE digital planning and deployment in Toronto, and various projects in Canada and the US. In these roles, I have been intimately involved in stakeholder engagement and needs assessment for projects combined with technical expertise and project management skills. At AECOM, I\'ve had the opportunity to apply this knowledge and experience to help make our communities better and improve their quality of life. AECOM empowers us to be innovative and creative. Currently, I am the ITS Technical Lead, Transportation at AECOM (Burnaby, BC). I am a registered professional engineer in BC, Alberta, and Ontario. I have a Master of Engineering degree (M.Eng. 1985 - UBC) and a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc. 1982 - UBC)
