About Kayla Chanel H.
I am a first-year Social Psychology PhD student at Howard University. My research focuses on cognitive and personality predictors of athletic performance, including my master’s thesis, The Moderated Relationship of Self-Monitoring and Mental Rotation in Predicting Advanced NBA Performance. I am particularly interested in how social and environmental factors such as trauma, grief, and parental loss along with cognitive processes like working memory capacity and personality traits, influence athletes’ performance and mental health. With experience in quantitative research and data analysis using SPSS, Python and R I am committed to developing culturally responsive performance assessments.
