Reading, GB

Seed Talks host a variety of talks on wellness, psychology, the mind, neurodivergence, and more all across the UK. My role as Event Manager is to ensure the talks in Reading run smoothly and all speakers and guests have a great time.I work on building rapport between myself, speakers, events assistants, and the venue, keeping communication engaging and professional. Checking the venue is set up in line with Seed Talks guidelines and providing necessary information to all parties regarding timings, tech information, and ticket checking. Before set up I make sure the event assistants knows what they\'re doing, I liaiase with the venue to ensure adequate space for ticket scanning while accomodating any access requirements, I check in with the speaker and make sure they know where they are needed and when, and I check the tech and AV with the venue to make sure everything is set up and ready to go with promotional branding ready for when guests arrive. After doors open, I help with greeting guests, dealing with any ticket issues or complaints, and supporting the speaker with talking to the growing audience or queue management for their book sales. Once the crowd has settled I also act as the host for the event, presenting to 200-ish people who Seed Talks are, any relevant promo or safety information, and introducing the speaker. I re-introduce the speaker after the break and lead the Q+A too.
