ABOUT KAYLA NYGAARD
I am a scientist and educator with a passion for systemic change in research and education. I think critically about most things in order to build efficiency as well as efficacy into my life and work.I received my Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis studying the underlying mechanisms of behavioral symptoms related to Williams Syndrome using mouse models. I also enjoy applying my skills in curriculum development, communication, and leadership to various outreach initiatives, with goals that include promoting science interest in under-served communities, supporting women in STEM, and modeling conversations around diversity and inclusion. I have experience writing learning objectives, designing evaluations, creating engaging lesson plans, leading professional development opportunities, organizing educational events, enhancing outreach programs, and creating resources for graduate and undergraduate education.
