ABOUT KAYLA PECHTER

I\'ve always had a strong interest in science and how things work—from an early fascination with biology and nature to hands-on experiences that shaped my career path. This passion led me to earn a Bachelor\'s degree in Biology from Cal Poly Pomona.During college, I gained valuable experience working in a fast-paced restaurant, where I developed strong team dynamics and communication skills. I also ran a small eBay store, building skills in marketing, logistics, and customer service. Volunteering with the Encinitas Lion’s Club allowed me to stay connected to my community and give back in a meaningful way.After graduating, I entered the biotech industry, starting at Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT). There, I worked in oligonucleotide manufacturing and was part of the team producing COVID-19 test kits during the pandemic. The non-departmentalized structure at IDT gave me a well-rounded view of production operations and improved my cross-functional collaboration skills.I later joined Pacific Biosciences to support the launch of the Onso short-read sequencer. This role deepened my R&D exposure, improved my data turnaround efficiency, and enhanced my ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative environments.Wanting to broaden my technical skills, I pivoted into engineering by joining Amazon. As a Technician in their Last Mile warehouse operations, I supported critical logistics operations through troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.Currently, I’m at EMD Electronics, back into supporting manufacturing operations. Continuing to build my technical and operational expertise in a highly regulated, innovative environment.
