ABOUT KAYLA KROLL

My research focuses on Induced seismicity related to large-scale fluid disposal or storage. I use observations of seismic events and numerical simulation to understand how fluid disposal induces earthquakes. I also use measurements of fluid pressure in disposal reservoirs to understand how reservoir properties change over time and in relation to earthquakes. Additionally, I am interested in developing methods to understand and estimate the state of stress (both pre-existing and evolving) in the subsurface. I am also interested in fault interaction, earthquake triggering and nucleation, earthquake processes, dynamic rupture propagation, shallow earth structure, seismic hazard.
