Capstone Scholar -Incoming SDR at Oracle, Austin location -Summer 2024 Marketing Intern for Vector Media, New York City location -Summer 2023 Marketing and Constituent services intern for Congressman Mike Lawler My name is Kayla Garfinkel, and I am currently a senior majoring in Marketing and Management at the University of South Carolina, with a minor in Law and Society. I have been a Capstone Scholar for the past four years. During my time at Carolina, I served on the executive board of my sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, and participated in various organizations such as the Women in Business Council, the American Marketing Association, and the Carolina Sales Institute. In my free time, I volunteer at Final Victory Rescue. My hobbies include yoga, intramural sports like soccer and pickleball, and traveling when time allows. Last semester, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Barcelona, where I took courses like International Marketing Strategies, Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, and a graffiti and photography class. I also worked as an English teaching assistant at a local elementary school, earning a service certification. I’m deeply grateful for the global exposure and the insights and experiences I gained. Additionally, I’ve held internships in Constituent Services for a Senator in New Jersey and a Congressman in New York, where I learned how to handle conflict and interact with diverse groups of people. This past summer, I worked as a Marketing Intern at Vector Media, an outdoor advertising company in New York City. There, I developed skills in digital marketing, prospecting, and writing post-event blogs and weekly newsletters. Professionally, my aspirations lie in the sales industry. During my internship this past summer, I realized I wanted to apply my marketing experience to a client-facing sales role. I had the chance to work with the sales team at Vector Media and gained experience in prospecting and customer relations. Through this, I realized that sales is the path I ultimately want to pursue. Throughout my life, I have worked in the service and hospitality industry. This semester I have the chance to work with Tom James Company as a Sales Intern, as well as Handshake as a content creator.
