About Kayin Robbins

I am an honors student studying CLEG at American University in our nation\'s capital. I am incredibly driven, crave learning new things, and try my best to improve the world around me every day. Some of my most important values include honesty, empathy, and hard work.I learned a number of invaluable skills through my high school job as an Assistant Manager at McCool\'s in Madison, NJ. Managing in the customer service industry helped me improve my stress management and communication skills. The position likewise helped me developed great leadership experience and understand what it takes to run a small business with other employees my age.In addition to my work as assistant manager, one of the most rewarding experiences I\'ve had as a young adult is to tutor the next generation in English, music, writing, and math. From my hometown, to Washington, DC, I have always tried to give back to the community by being of service the best way I know how. As a part of a number of fantastic organizations, I\'ve had the pleasure of watching young students grow and achieve their maximum potential. After graduating from American University, I plan on continuing my volunteer work in Latin America as a part of the Peace Corps or another similar organization, and then perhaps going to law school or getting my masters degree. While at AU, I hope to use the resources at my disposal, on campus and in DC, to my advantage and propel my future career forward!

   As a part of DC Witness, I attend legal proceedings and collect data regarding violent crime cases in the district. Additionally, I publish articles about important cases to keep the DC community informed about legal current events.
