Strengthening ASDMA’s capacity for Post Disaster Needs Assessment” project is divided into the following four components:Component A: Development of standardized PDNA tools for AssamNational Institute Disaster Management (NDMA, Ministry of Home Affairs) has already standardized PDNA tools for India through its guidelines in the form of a user manual, handbook, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).These guidelines are generic and applicable across India, requiring customization for Assam considering its social, cultural, and economic context.Component B: Dissemination of the PDNA tools and trainingStandardized PDNA tools developed under Component A are disseminated among government officials at various levels (Village/Revenue Circle/District/State).Training is conducted to help officials understand and collect disaster data.Several capacity-building programs are envisaged for stakeholders.Component C: Pilot testing of the PDNA toolsThe standardized PDNA tools developed in Component A and disseminated in Component B are pilot tested in selected districts.Districts include Lakhimpur, Bongaigaon, Morigaon, Majuli, and Cachar (one from each division across Assam).The pilot testing aims to assess usability and identify required improvements in the tools.
