ABOUT KAUSHIK MANDAL M.D. FHRS FRCS

I am an adult cardiac surgeon with extensive experience and niche expertise in minimally invasive/robotic cardiac surgeries including mitral valve/tricuspid valve repairs/Maze procedures for Atrial Fibrillation/cardiac neuromodulation for Ventricular Tachyarrythmias. I also perform coronary bypass surgeries, aortic surgeries including aortic dissections and root replacements, complex high risk cardiac surgeries including redo surgeries, TAVRs, transplants and advanced mechanical circulatory support. As the Director of Robotic Cardiac & Minimally Invasive Arrhythmia Surgery Program, at Johns Hopkins and Penn State prior to joining DMC- I successfully started and built the Robotic program. I have launched DMC group of hospital\'s first minimally invasive cardiac surgery program and also delivered a quality assured growth for the program. I have been able to improve DMC Sinai Grace\'s CT surgery program, to be amongst the top 5% of the high quality high performing CT surgery programs in the state. As a part of comprehensive and minimally invasive valve therapy program, I have been closely involved with transcatheter valve program. At Hopkins, my mitral valve surgery outcomes and clinical collaboration attracted the following two international pivotal trials: ReChord Trial (off Pump Beating Heart Mitral Valve Repair with Neochordae) and Apollo Trial (Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement)- for which I was the site Principal Investigator. I was also the site principal Investigator for the Low Risk Surgical vs Transcatheter aortic valve replacement trial and the SURTAVI trials.
