About Marcel Kaufmann
Have you been asked what you wanted to be as a kid? – \"Astronaut\", is what I answered,\"so that I can see Earth and the stars from afar [.].\" While astronaut positions are limited, the enthusiasm to work in the space industry has always been part of me shaping my space‐oriented career as a full-stack Computer Engineer.My background is in photonics, computer vision, multi-robot mission autonomy, and human-robot interaction. Interdisciplinary problems fascinate me, and by pairing my experience with curiosity and the capability to acquire new skills, I achieved to:• Conceptualize, implement, and field-test an autonomy assistant in support of single-user supervised multi-robot systems for exploration and search tasks• Develop and deploy novel human multi-robot Virtual Reality and 2D interfaces utilizing real-time data visualization techniques for effective human autonomy teaming• Reduce false alarms in unsuperivised SAR-CCD (Synthetic Aperture Radar Coherent Change Detection) satellite monitoring systems for large-scale terrestrial infrastructure by up to 93%• Improve the measurement accuracy of 3D Time-of-Flight cameras by characterizing systematic errors utilizing six-axis robots and deriving multivariate calibration algorithmsOutside of work, you\'ll find me in the water, either surfing or scuba diving.
