About Katy Richards-Hrdlicka
I am passionate about and inspired to help match the needs of scientists with the company\'s portfolio. It gives me a lot of pleasure to understand and solve problems at the bench and during data analysis. I\'ve spent many years troubleshooting my research and other\'s as well as optimizing and improving the speed, accuracy, resource-conservation, and data obtained from molecular biology approaches. I have optimized numerous DNA extraction protocols, PCRs and qPCRs for microsatellite detection, pathogen detection, and SNP genotyping. I enjoy giving presentations, learning new techniques and platforms, training and mentoring, and optimizing and troubleshooting - and I get to do all these things for a living! Most definitely, I am passionate about single-cell analysis and their technologies. I was lucky enough to be part of its early days and love watching the field unfold with new platforms, modalities, and approaches to visualize, apply, and extend biological insights. My latest position has me poised to help customers add a spatial dimension to their single-cell transcriptomic studies! It is truly breathtaking to hear how customers envision leveraging this technology; I\'m just an honored scientist helping to get CosMx up and running in their labs.
Experience
Staff Field Application Scientist
Jun 2025 — Present · US
In many ways I\'m returning to and expanding my foundational exposure and passions in Single Cell Analysis and Biology. In short, I\'ll be majorly supporting nearby research groups, ensuring they\'re happy, successful, data are compelling, and are engaged advocates for us for when we go fully commerical.
