Katy Wells is Vice President of Licensing & HR and General Counsel for Motivo, Inc, a start-up pioneering the use of tera-scale analytics and artificial intelligence to transform complex manufacturing, with an initial focus on integrated circuit design and manufacturing. Previously, Katy spent almost 14 years at global semiconductor leader Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.(AMD), last serving as its Corporate Vice President for Operations & Alliances on the CEO’s team and earlier as Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. She was instrumental in AMD’s creation of semiconductor manufacturer GLOBALFOUNDRIES and served on GF’s founding Board. Prior to joining AMD, Katy was in private practice with global law firms in Washington, D.C. and Austin, TX and served as a federal law clerk to the Honorable José A. Cabranes. During her career, Katy has led and driven international transactions; board governance; CEO team and law department operations; global corporate compliance; and teams supporting technology transfer and development, manufacturing, sales, marketing/PR, EHS, and the regions of China, Germany, India, Italy, and the UAE. In addition to her technology leadership roles, Katy provides business and career development consulting to law firm and in-house attorneys; served on the board of an award-winning college-prep academy; and has served initiatives at Yale University, Yale Law School, Lamar University, and Bowdoin College. Katy received her B.S. Summa Cum Laude from Lamar University and her J.D. from Yale Law School.
