   Provides tax planning and tax compliance services for foreign clients investing in the US and US-based clients operating internationally. Experience includes: • Structuring of investments into and out of the US through use of funds and/or blockers, based on investor tax profiles. Particular emphasis on cross-border transactions for Real Estate funds and multi-national REITs. • Analysis and modeling of US federal income tax consequences for acquisition, life cycle, and exit of cross-border investments, including PFIC, CFC, UBTI, ECI, and FIRPTA implications, • Researching various tax issues arising in proposed transactions & consulting foreign member firms to optimize US and local tax impact, • Assistance with foreign investor documentation, treaty qualification, and application of US withholding tax rules, • Review of Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, 1120-F, 1065 and accompanying Schedule K-1s for clients who include real estate funds, multi-national REITs, and US C Corps. Katy also has significant experience managing large internal teams in a virtual environment and has been selected to serve on various internal KPMG councils & working groups which focus on firm strategy and growth. Katy serves as a national training facilitator and has developed tax technical knowledge management materials for the KPMG US tax practice.
