I was talking to a friend one day about communication styles. I told him that most people don\'t like my direct communication style. He told me that my direct communication style is important because I get right to the point for people to take action. I agreed, but I still needed help to temper that directness in certain situations because I think I alienate people. He told me to say this: Yes, I am direct-and kind. You have no idea how that one phrase helped me understand myself. Yes, I am direct-and kind. Yes, I am a driver-and kind. Yes, I am assertive-and kind. Yes, I am impatient-and kind. Yes, I am. All of my behaviors stem from kindness. I drive important initiatives because I believe they will make the company a better place for employees. I am assertive and respect others and myself so we can have meaningful and constructive discussions when we may not agree on the way forward. I am impatient when things don\'t go as quickly as I\'d like them to go, especially when the things will improve communication and employees\' well-being and transparency and work/life balance and diversity and.
