About Katja Battarbee

I have over a decade of experience in developing qualitative and inspirational research methods to inform the design of products, technologies and services. My research practice is mostly qualitative: I conduct observations and interviews, and lead and process synthesis of findings to define design opportunities. I also bring to the table concept ideation and am experienced at sketching storyboards and scenarios. In addition to qualitative, I am able to conduct lightweight quantitative research alongside qualitative work, and synthesize both. In consulting work, I have focused for several years on design for health, in the design of medical devices, processes, products and services, with an eye for compliance, desirability, behavior change and better patient and stakeholder outcomes. Depending on the situation, I may lead the research or the project. In house, i have worked both as an IC, and managed a team of UX researchers and UX designers. I take pride in being a trustworthy manager and caring about developing the whole person.
