When I was in 3rd grade, I spent my after-school time with my beloved grandmother. And my grandma, well… she was both loving, and practical. One day she said to me, “Mija, I got something special just for you. I didn’t get it for any of your siblings or cousins. I got you your very own. vacuum cleaner! So when you get home from school, you’ll vacuum the whole house, okay?” She placed the handheld, bright red Dirt Devil in my small hands. Any normal kid’s reaction might be along the lines of a loud groan. But not me. I puffed my chest and with an exuberant grin, exclaimed, Grandma!” I rushed home after school every day, grabbed my prized possession and smiled at my grandma as I vacuumed my way around the house on hands and knees. She sat back in her rocking chair and smiled, with a twinkle in her eye. Current or future parents and grandparents, take note. While I learned her tricks of her trade, I also learned something about myself. I might be a bit of a sucker, but my boundless enthusiasm is something I’ve never grown out of. It stems from my love and dedication—love for the people around me whether it’s family, friends or work colleagues, and dedication to getting things done. So what I have I been doing since? Here are a few highlights: • Graduated with honors in 3.5 years from USC• Managed major project and accounts for a tech consulting agency for 2 years• Taught at an all-girls school in Calcutta, India for 5 weeks• Worked as a marketing project manager at NetApp• Currently serving as an Assistant Director advising students in Computer Science at USC\'s Viterbi School of Engineering
