ABOUT KATIE IRELAND

Currently working as a Senior Geologist in the Geophys Site Characterisation Team producing ground models and assessing geofeatures/geohazards at Ørsted focused on the APAC region. Prior to working for Ørsted I took a career break to look after my children. My career pre-career break was as an Exploration Geoscientist with ~10 years’ experience in integrated subsurface interpretation, of which 7 years were with companies with global operations- with particular focus on regional to prospect scale E&P evaluations. I have a background in carbonate sedimentology and soft sediment deformation/mobilisation with a PhD in Geoscience. Very passionate interest in the diagenesis and reservoir potential of carbonates, soft sediment deformation, mud volcano systems, field mapping, overpressure, geohazards, STEM outreach, field HSSE and emergency response. Media:2009 BBC \'How the Earth Made Us: Fire\' Episode: Acted as a field guide and technical advisor in Azerbaijan for the film crew and Iain Stewart.
