ABOUT KATIE CASERTA

My career path has been far from ordinary. Life has brought me many twist & detours along the path, to get to where I am today. I wouldn\'t change a thing! In college, I worked many hours to pay for my 4-years at Ohio State University. I graduated with honors and a K-8 teaching degree, a life long dream! I taught for 4 1/2 years at Immaculate Conception Grade School (5th/7th/8th), until my first child was born with a serious heart defect, requiring me to leave my job. In a very quick moment, I went from being a classroom teacher to a stay-at-home mom. During these first few years at home, I volunteered at Nationwide Children\'s Hospital & I was the first parent representative on their new Children\'s Home Care board. I continued to be a stay-at-home mom for 18 years to my daughter & now son, too. During that 18 years, I held many volunteer positions, such as Vice-President of the school Parent Committee & managing the after School programs, allowing me to still be in the schools. Other volunteer jobs, such as the food chairman for Stephanie Spielman\'s Smash With Love Breast Cancer fundraiser, allowed me to continue to give back to my community. In 2009, I renewed my teaching license & began substitute teaching, to work my way back into a teaching job. Instead of following the teaching path, I chose to go completely outside my comfort zone & joined the corporate world as an Inside Sales Rep for McGraw-Hill Education. I was able to use my teaching knowledge, as I sold the McGraw-Hill Intervention products to 9 states. In my 11+ years at MHE, I was promoted to an OH Sales Rep (2012), won Rookie of the Year (2013), and was promoted to a Sr. Sales Rep (2015) Winning the Rookie of the Year Award is still one of my proudest moments ever. I was proof that, no matter what life gives you, just keep going, keep learning, & keep working hard. You\'ll end up exactly where you were meant to be! On March 16, 2020, I began a new career as the Amplify Education Sr. Account Executive for OH.(Yes, the very day that the Covid world shut down!) And, what a life-changing move this has been for me. The minute I was asked to read The Knowledge Gap, as part of my job interview, I knew Amplify was different and I knew I would never look at literacy the same again. Everything we do, from Literacy to Science to Desmos Math, always follows the research. Making sure all students and teachers can be successful is the core of what we do. And, now, as an Amplify OH Sr. Sales rep, I would love to help your district make this transformation, too!
