ABOUT KATIE VON KOHORN

I have 20 years of experience working with wealthy individual clients and generations of families. I advise clients on their estate planning, estate and gift taxes, probate law, estate and trust administration, inter-generational planning, planning with digital assets including cryptocurrency, and philanthropy including private foundations and donor-advised funds. I also serve as a fiduciary, primarily as a trustee on clients\' trusts. I counsel clients regarding the investment, tax, and legal aspects of trusts, as well as with the varied interests of trust beneficiaries. I advise trustees and exempt organizations on issues pertaining to tax exemption, fiduciary responsibilities, and charitable trust law.I have experience implementing digital asset planning, life insurance planning in trusts, irrevocable trusts for gifting, non-judicial settlement agreements and trust decanting, tax, gift and estate planning for non-citizen spouses, management of family private foundations, donor advised funds, and planned family philanthropy. I establish clients\' estate planning documents including wills, revocable trusts, life insurance trusts, realty trusts, LLCs, grantor retained annuity trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, powers of attorney, and health care proxies, among others.I hold the Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP®) designation from the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils (NAEPC). The AEP® designation is a graduate level specialization in estate planning, obtained in addition to already recognized professional credentials within the various disciplines of estate planning. It is awarded by NAEPC to recognize estate planning professionals who meet stringent requirements of experience, knowledge, education, professional reputation and character, and who commit to the team concept of estate planning.
