Kelly.Spoiler alert: I get excited about nursing excellence and shared governance.I am a nurse leader with a passion for inspiring, challenging, and motivating others, as well as creating lean organizational structures that empower all. My drive is rooted in the belief that leadership is not for a select few at the top. In my experience, organizations are most successful when responsibility, control, and decision-making are encouraged at all levels-especially at the point of care where the work is being done. My goal is to create professional practice environments where everyone engages and contributes their full intellectual and emotional capacity, enabling leaders throughout every level within the organization. A little background.Most recently, I served as Director for Nursing Excellence & Magnet Programs at Stanford Health Care, where I partnered with nurses at all levels in shared decision-making and helped to foster a culture of inquiry – where asking \"why\" and challenging the \"status quo\" was not only encouraged.it was expected. While at SHC, I served as President of the Association of California Nurse Leaders (ACNL) – South Bay Chapter in 20••••20, as well as Co-Chair of the ACNL state-wide Membership Committee for three years.In addition to leading the Magnet Program at SHC, I was also responsible for overseeing several macrosystem-level projects and programs, including the SHC Nursing and Interprofessional Shared Leadership Councils, Nursing Mentorship and Succession Planning Programs, Nursing Grand Rounds, Daisy Awards (and other recognition programs), Nursing Communications (including Nursing Social Media sites), coordinating all Nurse Week activities, the International Visitors Program and various other projects.A new journey.In 2021, I departed SHC after nearly 15 years (and three Magnet designations). I am now blazing a new trail in the consulting space. Equal parts exhilarating and terrifying, it has been a very rewarding venture. I plan to take my years of Magnet experience, nursing leadership, and nurse development out into the world where I can work with amazing organizations and people.and, hopefully, inspire and guide the next generation of nurse leaders as those before me inspired me.
