ABOUT KATIE MURRAY

Currently, Principal, HR Data Governance, I craft strategy around how employee data is defined, protected, and trusted. I bring together data stewardship, security, and governance in this role to partner with HRIS and Analytics and our HR colleagues to ensure people data is accurate, secure, and actionable. I’m passionate about turning complex HR data into a strategic asset, building frameworks that empower data users and unlock insights, while protecting our employees. And I just love geeking out over data.Previously, Manager of a great Talent Analytics team at American Family Insurance. We’re responsible for providing diagnostic, statistical, and predictive analytics focused on employee data for our partners in Human Resources and other People functions. We’re using data to gain insights into our workforce and helping to create an engaged, diverse, productive workforce for the American Family Enterprise. Our team provides research support for workforce planning, engagement, employee lifecycle, and inclusion efforts, along with designing interactive tools to put data in the hands of our leaders. Before that, I joined CUNA Mutual Group in January 2015 as a Workforce Consultant on the Insights & Analytics team in Human Resources. My role was to provide data-driven support for Human Resource initiatives. After several years in HR, I moved to Customer Operations to lead the Listening Post Survey Team. This team, along with QA and Speech make up the Listening Post, a primary source for B2C, B2B, and employee feedback across the company. The survey team partnered with key stakeholders to provide survey consultation, delivery, and results that business partners can use to drive their decision making. In my long-ago life as a grad student, I defended my dissertation titled \"Just Saying \'No\': An Examination of Gender Differences in the Ability to Decline Workplace Requests\" in the doctoral Industrial/Organizational Psychology program at Rice University in Houston, Texas. I worked under the advisorship of Dr. Mikki Hebl, specializing in diversity and inclusion, voluntary employee turnover, retention of minority employees in non-traditional fields, and the importance of social support and mentoring in the workplace.
