About Katie Castor

With a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering and a background in Environmental Science and Wildlife Ecology, Katie has 14 years of related experience and is a certified Professional Wetland Scientist. She currently serves as Assessment & Permitting Technical Area Lead (TAL) for the US Gulf Region (FL, GA, AL, TN, KY, MS, LA, AR, OK, TX). Her responsibility is to enhance business performance while driving quality and innovation as an industry thought leader. Our current Key Initiatives include Climate Solutions, Ecosystem Restoration, Coastal & Marine, Energy Transition, and Corporate Sustainability. Katie’s expertise includes business development, project management, environmental planning, impact assessment, permitting/compliance with regulations, and mitigation planning. Katie thrives in dynamic, high pressure environments and is focused on strategic leadership and collaboration. She is author of the book \"Regulatory Methodology and Unmitigated Wetland Loss in Southwest Florida\", published in 2019 and available on Amazon.

   We have over employees at Stantec globally. Of these, 5,440 support our Environmental Services sector and 430+ are located in the U.S. Gulf Coast Region which has 40 offices in 10 states (17 in Florida). Of these, 260+ specialize in Assessment & Permitting. I’m excited to share that I’ve been selected to serve a 4-year term as Technical Area Lead (TAL) for US Gulf Coast Region in Assessment & Permitting. TALs drive business performance as industry thought leaders and deliver technically excellent client solutions. Our Environmental Services sector has over 20 other technical disciplines (air quality, archaeology, remediation, etc) and over active projects; I’m looking forward to collaborating with other regional Leads and discipline Leads to enhance Stantec’s performance as an industry leader. Our current Key Initiatives include Climate Solutions, Ecosystem Restoration, Coastal & Marine, Energy Transition, and Corporate Sustainability. My role will be to direct consistent technical standards for my geography, support pursuits and project delivery, build Stantec’s brand, and drive quality and innovation.
