The Sanctuary of the South (SOS) is a network of workers collectives with a mission of justice and liberation through communal love, support, and resistance. We are a network rooted in and serving the South, providing legal services, community sanctuary spaces, and support for grassroots projects with the goal of replacing the systems of oppression that have kept us separated from our collective joy and power.We explicitly reject the nonprofit industrial complex and all state and major foundation funding. We are not beholden to a board of directors or funders. We are beholden only to the communities we belong to and serve, collapsing the separation between social justice work and the people.SOS is a refuge and a new model for building community power, justice, and resources. We provide low bono legal services, with a special focus on immigration and those trying to survive and liberate themselves from immigration detention. We provide sanctuary spaces throughout the South to be in community, heal, and build resistance. We also provide seed funding for grassroots projects throughout the South that share our values and goals.
