About Katie Bevington

An employee with SK & A since 2006, Katie Bevington has transitioned from CAD Operator to Structural Engineer. After joining the firm, Katie worked for several years as a CAD Operator in our Maryland office. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2005, Katie earned her Master of Civil Engineering degree Structural Concentration in 2010 from Norwich University School of Graduate Studies. She provided temporary drafting services for SK & A and passed a Revit Architecture course at Montgomery College between 2008 and 2012 while taking a leave of absence to raise her young children. In February 2013, Katie returned to her former position at SK & A on a permanent full-time basis as a Structural Engineer I. Proficient in AutoCAD, RAM Concept, and Revit, Katie is specifically interested in wood engineering design and existing building renovations. She has provided drafting and engineering services for many of SK & A’s larger stick-built podium projects such as Crown Farm, Reston Station, The Thornton, Channing Place, Gateway, Haven @ National Harbor, Merriweather District Residential Building B & Building C, Loudoun Station Phase 2 apartments & Black Hill Germantown Apartments. In addition to multiple on-going projects in the DC Metro area, Katie\'s current design projects include Electric Works Apartments and Precast Garage in Fort Wayne, Indiana, 100 Clinton Ave Apartments in Stamford, Connecticut, and One Belmont mixed use two building development in Lower Merion, Pennsylvania. Katie received her Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 2005 from the University of Maryland at College Park, a Master of Civil Engineering with Structural Concentration from Norwich University in Northfield Vermont in 2010, and passed the FE exam to become an EIT in 2014. Katie has actively worked to raise money for The Annual Race for Hope 5k to benefit the National Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure. She also actively supports JDRF’s Finding a Cure for Type 1 Diabetes, American Heart Association, and Child Aid for building schools and libraries in Guatemala.
