About Kathy Staats

Born in Milwaukee, raised by the arts and public health activism, I bring a unique line of thinking to all I do. I pride myself in my ability to build networks and make change through policy, creative thinking, and brave conversation. I started my career in my home state of Wisconsin, leading cutting-edge chronic disease policy campaigns and innovative frameworks to support the unique role of the public health workforce in policy change. I had the opportunity to learn, grow, and move mountains in Colorado for three years at a local public health agency serving the eastern Denver Metro. I served on the COVID response for a year and a half which, like the pandemic, changed everything. I have new purpose and focus within my career here in Washington, DC. I’m expanding my skills and knowledge every day in public health preparedness, health security, and One Health innovation.
