About Kathy Mayo
I am a proud Veteran, the mother of six, a grandmother to nine, a foster parent to 43 children, and a host to six foreign exchange students. These experiences have profoundly shaped my commitment to service, advocacy, community, and continue to influence how I lead, mentor, and build relationships with the people and organizations I serve. They reflect the values of integrity, resilience, and service that guide both my personal life and professional career.Raised on a rural farm in Iowa, I learned early the importance of hard work, accountability, and showing up for others. Those lessons have carried through every stage of my career in healthcare and remain foundational to how I build trust with teams, physicians, and facility leadership. My professional journey spans decades and includes leadership roles across both clinical and operational environments. This breadth of experience allows me to connect authentically with frontline providers while also partnering effectively with executive leadership. I understand the pressures on clinicians delivering care and the realities hospital leaders face balancing quality, safety, staffing, and financial performance. In my current role with Valley Regional Anesthesia Associates (VRAA), I focus on building and sustaining high-performing clinical teams while driving operational stability across multiple sites. A core part of my work is relationship building—serving as a consistent, trusted point of contact between providers, facility leadership, and internal teams. I prioritize open communication, alignment of expectations, and early issue resolution to prevent small concerns from becoming operational or cultural challenges. With providers, I work to build trust through transparency, advocacy, and follow-through. I listen carefully, address concerns directly, and ensure they feel supported, respected, and heard. With facilities, I focus on partnership—understanding their goals, constraints, and culture, and aligning anesthesia operations in a way that supports patient care, staff satisfaction, and organizational stability.I take a relationship-driven approach to leadership and believe strong partnerships are built on consistency, accountability, and mutual respect. When providers and facilities trust one another, teams are stronger, operations are more reliable, and patient care improves.I look forward to connecting.
