ABOUT KATHRYNE PIAZZA

I’m an MBA candidate at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business with a background in data science and strategy. Before business school, I worked at NORC at the University of Chicago, where I analyzed large-scale federal datasets to uncover insights that informed public policy and organizational strategy. Through this work I learned how to turn complex data into clear stories that help leaders make better decisions.What has always driven me is the desire to connect people and information in ways that make organizations smarter and more human. I believe great strategy starts with empathy and is powered by insight.I’ve always believed that connection makes work better, so when we returned to the office after the pandemic, I made it my mission to bring people together again. I restarted happy hours, planned team events, and created space for colleagues to laugh together between deadlines. That same spirit carried into my work leading the strategic initiative to build NORC’s first Disclosure Review Board, where I designed a company-wide workflow that improved the safety of respondent data while giving leadership clearer insight into the analytic output NORC produced.Now at Fuqua, I’m exploring opportunities that combine analytical rigor with strategic leadership across areas such as finance, marketing, and operations. I’m drawn to roles that use data and business insight to guide decisions, develop people, and create lasting impact. On campus, I serve on the cabinet of the Rackets Club, work as an Impact Investing Associate, and am active in the Marketing, Finance, and Net Impact Club.Outside of school and work, I’m happiest outdoors hiking, biking, or playing tennis and pickleball. As a Chicagoan, I will also always have a soft spot for a good musical, live comedy, or a new restaurant to try.
