The Child Advocacy Center for the 23rd Judicial District (23rd CAC) is a place for children who are alleged victims of severe physical and sexual child abuse to receive support after a report has been made through law enforcement or Child Protective Services. The 23rd CAC serves Cheatham, Dickson, Houston, Humphreys, and Stewart counties in Middle Tennessee. Headquartered in Charlotte, Tennessee in Dickson County, with ancillary offices in Ashland City in Cheatham County and Dover in Stewart County the 23rd CAC works with law enforcement, Child Protective Services, the District Attorney’s office, mental health counselors, medical professionals, and others to help child victims and their non-offending caregivers heal from severe abuse.In support of this effort the 23rd CAC works to unite public, private and community partners to ensure the safety, health and well-being of abused children.Highlights:March 2018 from The Healing Trust and the Office of Criminal Justice Program, through the Victims of Child Abuse Act were awarded in March. The VOCA grant is a three-year contract worth $1,046,724 that will expand current services to include the hiring of four new staff in July, as well as providing training and equipment. The Healing Trust’s grant is a one-year grant for $21,398, which will help pay for the in-house trauma therapy program, “Reclaiming Me.”
