About Kathryn Mitchell
During my years of supporting and advocating for public health, with a focus on maternal and children\'s health programs, I have learned to effectively use data and equity frameworks to gauge the effectiveness of existing programs, identify areas of improvement, and inform strategies for expanding service delivery and efficiencies. I am skilled in implementation science, advocacy and government affairs, collective impact, results-based facilitation and results-based accountability.
Experience
National Director Maternal & Infant Health and Collective Impact
Feb 2020 — Present · Albany, NY, US
In this position I helped launch in 2020 a collective impact initiative which included hiring a new 10-member department team to develop matrix management infrastructure and devise an implementation plan for public health programming that reached 6K individuals by 2022. I continuously expanded the initiative to its current seven operating collective impact sites with nearly 300 active partners. I orchestrate all onboarding, training, impact reporting, processes, operational practices and performance reviews for department. I coordinate support and mentoring to field level staff to empower results-driven teams. I identify and foster national partnerships with organizations ranging from tech companies to advocacy groups to support activation and scale of local field work projects. I partner with a team evaluation manager to provide periodic impact reports to organizational leadership. I also manage grant budgets and deliverables totaling $1.2M from 2020 to 2022. I am proudest of the following accomplishments:• Creating pitch decks and grant documentation for projects ranging from local donation drives to national multi-state initiatives which yielded nearly $300K in fresh program support funding in 2022.• Successfully concluding multi-year campaigns to pass legislation extending postpartum Medicaid coverage to 12 months and the Health Equity Impact Assessment law in New York.• Consulting on renewal of federal PREEMIE Act and advocated for the federal Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.• Conducting redeployment of 80% of local field directors for the COVID pandemic response, resulting in 11 blog posts, a FB Live series, creation of COVID specific consumer education materials, and a temporary feedback loop process to hear real time needs of field staff.
