San Mateo attorney joins CSBA as General Counsel and new director of Education Legal Alliance Kathryn Meola has joined CSBA as the organization\'s new General Counsel and Director of its Education Legal Alliance. In her new role, Meola provides legal counsel to the leadership and management of CSBA and oversees all legal department programs and services. She also leads ELA, a consortium of school districts, county offices of education and regional occupational centers/programs that pool resources to pursue and defend public education interests in the courts and before state agencies. Meola comes to CSBA from the San Mateo County Counsel’s Office, where as Chief Deputy she advised school districts across the county in both general education and special education areas of law. Prior to joining the County Counsel\'s’ Office, Meola worked as a Deputy District Attorney for San Mateo County. “I’m thrilled to have Kathy join my senior leadership team as our new General Counsel,\" CSBA CEO & Executive Director Vernon M. Billy, said.\"She brings more than 24 years of legal experience in litigation, personnel matters, contracts, policy development, general and special education, charter schools, open meeting laws, public records act requests, and administrative hearings.”
