About Kathryn Katz

I’m Katie Katz, founder of Mitzi. After nearly two decades working as a trust and estates attorney—first at a top law firm and then at JPMorgan—I saw firsthand how the estate planning system works well for the wealthy, but leaves most people behind. Mitzi was born out of those late-night texts from friends and family asking, “Do I need a will?” “What IS a will?” or “What happens to my kids if something happens to me?” I realized that the people who needed the most support were the least served by traditional legal tools. That’s why I left JP Morgan to build Mitzi — a digital estate planning platform that’s approachable, affordable, and ongoing — everything traditional planning is not. At Mitzi, our goal is to make planning simpler and more empowering, especially for women and families navigating life’s biggest moments without a roadmap. I\'m passionate about closing the access gap and bringing peace of mind to the 70% of Americans who currently don’t have a plan in place. We are launching soon!
