About Kathryn H.
Seventeen years ago, I began my career in International HR inside the Compensation & Benefits department at the Inter-American Development Bank supporting employees who have moved from Europe, South and Central America to work at the Washington DC headquarters. I’ve supported global organizations including Jhpiego (an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University), Marriott International, Lidl, APCO and now Amentum, where I manage the full international assignment life cycle from pre-assignment planning through repatriation across both commercial and government projects. In 2013, I became a certified Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) and had the privilege of volunteering with the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) on exam development panels. I grew into a subject matter expert in expatriate taxation, international assignments and transfers, domestic and international relocations and global mobility compliance, which often requires precision, foresight, and calm problem-solving.But my most transformative leadership training didn’t happen in a workplace. It happened at home.As a mom to a neurodiverse child, I’ve learned flexibility at a whole new level. Parenting has sharpened my patience, deepened my empathy, strengthened my advocacy skills, and reinforced the importance of creating environments where people can thrive in different ways. It has also shaped how I think about work, not as a rigid structure, but as something that can be designed thoughtfully to support both performance and well-being.Balancing global mobility operations and motherhood hasn’t always been simple, but it has made me more adaptable, more strategic, and more human in how I lead and support others.I’m passionate about contributing to compliant, people-centered global mobility programs that balance the needs of the business while elevating the employee experience. And I believe sustainable success in work and in life comes from creating space for both opportunity and authenticity.
