ABOUT KATHRINA PETERSON
A creative legal professional with over two decades of experience, I shape policy, programs, and institutions to strengthen community welfare and resilience. I serve as an innovative leader in the U.S. Department of Justice, spearheading national initiatives to modernize victim compensation, strengthen victim assistance programs, enhance victims’ rights, and advance access in the justice system. During my 15+ years at DOJ, I have advised DOJ leadership, federal and state partners, congressional representatives, and other stakeholders on victim, social justice, funding, and legislative issues. I enjoy navigating complex legal, budgetary, and regulatory matters to maximize public safety. As someone who appreciates and is skilled at facilitating community engagement, I have delivered 100+ presentations and trainings to federal and state partners, legal professionals, and advocacy groups. I am passionate about team-building to achieve individual and mission-driven objectives.
