ABOUT KATHLEEN GIBBS

In an era where business and technology are intertwined, identifying and understanding IT risk is of heightened importance. The financial significance of IT risk and the various ways companies are affected by said risk, continues to interest me as I grow in my professional career. I enjoy learning about the ever-changing IT structures in which companies operate along with the risk identification programs, control structures, and cyber security initiatives that businesses have in place.I graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. My first accounting information systems class was where I had my ‘a-ha moment’ and started to picture what my future career would look like. Upon graduating with my bachelor’s degree, I decided to continue my education at BGSU and receive a Masters in Accounting with a focus in Information Systems Audit and Controls. Currently, I work at EY located in Columbus, OH as a Senior Advisory Consultant serving clients in the financial services industry. I work closely with our financial teams and client’s Internal Audit and IT departments to accurately assess IT risks and evaluate the effectiveness of IT General Controls put in place by the client to be SOX compliant. To grow personally and professionally in my career, my focus has been to enhance my knowledge and skill sets in the realm of IT and business, expand my network by collaborating with teams, and develop leadership experience by bringing awareness to professionals in the industry. In my free time, I enjoy walking my dog Opie, cooking, and being outside…when it’s nice out!
