My first book was the New York Times best-selling memoir with recipes,\"The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry\"(Viking/Penguin 2007). The book covered my experiences earning a degree at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, the first book written on attending the modern school there. Among other honors, my first book was named a finalist for the Washington State Book Awards. It has been published in nine languages around the world. It is presently optioned for television. My second book,\"The Kitchen Counter Cooking School\" was published by Viking/Penguin in October 2011 to overwhelming positive reviews and earned a 2012 Non-Fiction Book Award Biography/Memoir) from the American Society of Journalists & Authors. My latest book is a multi-generational memoir about my experiences growing up in the Midwest titled \"Burnt Toast Makes You Sing Good: Tales of Food and Love from an American Midwest Family\"(Viking/Penguin). That book was named a Michigan Notable Book and a finalist in the IACP awards (literary writing), Goodreads Choice Awards, Washington State Book Awards and the Pacific Northwest Book Awards. I\'m also \"big in Japan,\" as my second book became a major bestseller in that country under the title \"Miracle Cooking Lessons for Bad Women.\" I have penned additional works (in English, translated to Japanese) for that market. I have two other books in the works. My literary and film representation is handled by Maggie Marr in Los Angeles.
