   I regularly advise and defend employers with regard to all employment issues including EEOC and wrongful discharge claims as well as claims brought under Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FLSA and FMLA. I have appeared before various government agencies on behalf of clients, including the NC State Property Tax Commission, Employment Security Commission, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, and the Securities and Exchange Commission. I often act as outside counsel for clients and work with in-house counsel to control costs, develop reasonable litigation budgets, assess risk/exposure to the client, and appropriately resolve litigation. I draft employment agreements, separation agreements, employee handbooks, and other employment policy documents for employers. I have led successful litigation resulting in defense verdicts in both the Federal and State Courts.I also create and present training programs for employers on such topics as sexual harassment, social media, wage and hour compliance, and other relevant employment issues. Because of my criminal prosecution experience, I often counsel corporate employers when employees have committed criminal acts such as embezzlement and corporate malfeasance. I have also represented clients who are under investigation and/or have been charged with various white-collar crimes including anti-trust violations, as well as witnesses subpoenaed to appear before a Federal Grand Jury and the Securities and Exchange Commission. I also direct client media communications in both crisis and non-crisis settings.
