Who I am- a foundation executive/former U.S. ambassador with decades of policy leadership and extensive experience leading and managing people and operations in the United States and six countries across Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean region, the Caribbean and South America. What I have done/What I do- developed a new organizational business model for the Annenberg Foundation Trust; built new strategic global and domestic partnerships; designed, curated and facilitated high-level summits and conferences on international affairs, global health, and global food security; and launched a new branding and communications strategy- led successful organizational changes, especially in unpredictable or budgetary constrained environments- partnered with leaders of many U.S. agencies (DOD, FBI, CIA, Commerce, Treasury, USAID, and USTR) on intricate issues, and earned 15 U.S. State Department awards, including The Rockwell Schnabel Award for Advancing U.S-EU Relations- negotiated multilateral agreements and facilitate(d) high-level discussions- developed in-depth expertise in geopolitics, trade, anti-corruption, illicit money flows (Russian money-laundering), energy, financial services, competition, privacy and technology matters- advocated successfully for U.S. businesses in potential deals worth billions- guided executives as they navigated complex issues to succeed in projects overseas and - established - and continue to expand - an exceptional network of contacts worldwide, including former heads of state, ministers/cabinet officials, senior United Nations officials, leaders of non-profits and foundations, the media, philanthropy, and top executives of major corporations.

    Sunnylands is renowned as a venue for international diplomacy. It was the site of the November 2023 U.S-China climate talks, President Obama -President Xi Jinping meeting in 2013 and the 2016 U.S-ASEAN Leaders\' Summit. Sunnylands continues to convene global leaders to address the most challenging issues of the day. Responsibilities-Provide leadership and strategic direction in the creation and execution of our outcomes-based, high-level, high-impact summits, retreats, and dialogues. For example, in just the past 12 months, we have held high-level meetings on issues ranging from the decline of local media; the security of the Indo-Pacific region; American adult low literacy; gene therapy for HIV; sustainable democracy goals for the United States, and many other critical issues-Lead in the development of our strategic partnerships, which include U.S. and foreign governments, think tanks, philanthropies, universities, associations, and media groups-Expand and engage our network of participants, among them: the heads of militaries in Japan, Australia, India, and the United Kingdom; former Secretaries of State and Defense; CEOs of Fortune 500 corporations, presidents and senior leaders of the top U.S. philanthropies; UN officials; ambassadors from key U.S. partners and allies; global health leaders; the change-agents of civic organizations, the heads of U.S. presidential centers, and those in national and local media. https://sunnylands.org/past-retreats/-Conceptualize and execute strategic messaging for convenings program-Develop a new business model to include virtual meetings and virtual participation in in-person events-Identify critical challenges to budget/organizational resources and structures, and lead changes to ensure long-term sustainability.
