I am currently a Project Coordinator in the Maass Lab at SickKids, where I am managing laboratory operations and conducting CRISPR-based experiments. My work at SickKids gave me the following experience:MANAGEMENT-I demonstrate leadership in my lab-I train new students in lab safety, established protocols, and internal policy-I organize equipment, reagents, samples, and consumables~ I work hard to maximize cost efficiency in the lab-I assemble communal data for the lab LAB WORK-I take part in multiple molecular genetics research projects-Excellent time management and prioritizing skills-I establish some new techniques for the lab as well as optimize existing ones-I write and edit protocols and SOPs-I oversee the research projects of graduate/undergraduate/volunteer studentsCOMMITTEES-I am a member of the Association for Research Technology Professionals (ARTP) executive team-This committee advocates for research professionals and provides them with important information and resources-This committee hosts a variety of events and networking opportunities to help advance the careers of research professionals-I am a member of the Green LEEDS EBOM committee -This committee improves the environmental sustainability of the hospital and research facility-We make changes to policy, infrastructure, available resources, and educational materials to meet ambitious sustainability goalsENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY-I take my own initiatives in the lab to improve my lab/department\'s environmental impact-I have piloted an initiative to save energy through increasing freezer set-points and turning off lab equipment-I have piloted a glove recycling initiative to redirect gloves from landfill
