ABOUT KATHLEEN CUNNINGHAM
I am the Assistant Director at the Stan Greenspon Holocaust and Social Justice Education Center at Queens University, leading projects and initiatives such as the Certificate in Holocaust Pedagogy Program and other professional development for teachers. I am also completing my PhD in Holocaust and Genocide studies at Gratz College.In addition to my work at the Greenspon Center, I work as a curriculum contractor to support a local school system with Secondary ELA and Social Studies curriculum work at the district level. I previously worked for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as a Secondary ELA Specialist, coaching middle schools with curriculum implementation and other needs related to ELA instruction. Earlier in my career I was also an 8th Grade ELA teacher. I am National Board Certified in my content area and hold a Master’s in Educational Leadership. As a teacher, I received training in Educational Leadership, Literacy, Reading Apprenticeship, Cultural Proficiency, Backwards Planning, Understanding By Design, and the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for ELA.
