About Katherine Piscopia

I am dedicated a student at the University of Maryland, College Park, following a Pre-Medical track with a strong interest in cognitive science, genetics, and health research. Through the FIRE (First-Year Innovation & Research Experience) program, I work in the Gene Silencing stream, with my focus on mating-induced gene silencing. My academic experiences have strengthened my skills in data analysis, scientific communication, and laboratory research, while deepening my appreciation for how public health and neuroscience intersect to improve individual health. I am passionate about advancing patient centered care and I am eager to continue expanding my research experience and clinical exposure as I prepare for medical school and a future career in medicine.

   I oversee chapter operations to maintain safety, compliance, and efficiency while collaborating with executive officers to plan events, implement policies, and promote member wellbeing and accountability. Elected by over 100 members, I represent their interests in organizational decision-making, conduct research and deliver weekly presentations on risk management, act as an optional emergency contact for all members, and lead the membership development committee to strengthen engagement and growth.
