   I am a Shields Legal Group “lifer,\" having spent most of my career as a practicing attorney on the firm\'s litigation and business disputes team. I also serve in the role of the firm’s Co-Managing Shareholder. Earlier in my career, I was given the nickname \"Reality Check Girl\" because I am very practical and focused on setting realistic expectations. I have had the opportunity to work with private companies, family businesses, and entrepreneurs across numerous industries in complex business disputes and litigation arising out of contracts, real estate transactions, commercial loans, construction projects, insurance claims, and employment matters. I enjoy learning about each client’s particular business. Disputes are part of business and litigation is time consuming, expensive, and risky. I believe that each client’s legal matter is a business problem for which there is a practical solution. I have learned that the best way to achieve successful outcomes is through an understanding of the client’s business and objectives. I collaborate with each client to understand the root cause of the client’s problem; ascertain the client’s business objective; determine the obstacles; propose options; and implement a plan to achieve a practical result that protects the client’s business and interests. I love helping clients figure out and implement solutions to their legal problems! One of the best days at the office is when I can tell a client that their legal matter is “closed,” and that’s why my other nickname at Shields is the “Closer.”
